Scottish Borders Councillor for Kelso and District
Simon Mountford, who lives just outside Town Yetholm, was first elected as a councillor for Kelso & District in May 2012, re-elected in 2017 alongside Tom Weatherston and again in 2022.
A former business editor, he set up his own corporate communications and public relations consultancy in 1994. This business background has given Simon a determination to ensure Scottish Borders Council’s operations are as efficient and cost-effective as possible. He believes Borderers have a right to expect the best-possible services from the council and is committed to ensuring that they receive them.
Outside the council, Simon is a vice-president of the Yetholm Border Shepherds Show, an elder of Hope Church Borders and a member of various local groups. He loves to relax by walking in the Cheviot Hills or simply pottering in his garden.
