John Lamont MP has urged banks to increase local services across the Scottish Borders while welcoming the introduction of a new hub in Jedburgh.
The new hub is run by the Post Office to let customers of major high street banks access cash services from Monday to Friday.
According to the Barclays website, community bankers from various banks will be available in person on different days of the week. TSB will be available on Mondays, Santander on Tuesdays, Bank of Scotland on Wednesdays, and Royal Bank of Scotland on Thursdays.
Scottish Borders MP, John Lamont, said: “Local people need quick and reliable access to cash services, so I am pleased to see a new banking hub open in Jedburgh.
“I hope this new hub will give loyal customers an opportunity to use the banking facilities they require, especially elderly and vulnerable people who may not have another option.
“We do still need better banking services in the Borders, however, and I will be continuing to campaign for more hubs and cashpoints to be provided.
"Big banks have often treated customers shoddily and that must change."
