Although most of the guests had come for the devils on horseback washed down by wine or, for those of us driving, delicious cranberry, ginger beer and lime punch, niceties had nevetheless to be observed and the party was addressed by Fiona Campbell, who feared that becoming chairman of her local Conservative branch meant that she had finally grown up, David Reid, our very generous host, who urged us to dig deep and whose call, the association is delighted to report, fell on very fertile ground, and the candidate herself, Cllr Michelle Ballantyne, who talked about the coming campaign. Getting down to business, there will now be a planning meeting for Tweeddale volunteers at 6.30 p.m. on Monday 1st February at Glebe House, Stobo. This will be addressed by Cllr Michelle Ballantyne.
