Former Scottish Conservative leader Ruth Davidson appealed to Borders residents to re-elect John Lamont this week during a visit to Hawick.
She joined John Lamont to campaign locally and they later took a quick break for lunch at Johnstons in Hawick.
Ruth Davidson said: "It's always great to come back out with John here in the Borders.
"I've known John for a long time and he's been a fantastic representative here both at Holyrood and now Westminster since 2007.
"He works hard for everybody, no matter what your stripe or politics are.
"This is going to be an exceptionally tight election. It is so close between John and the SNP, so if there is any way we can get you out to vote for John to keep him doing the hard work he goes, do please make it to the polls on the 4th of July and vote for John Lamont.
"I've been involved in politics a long time and I can honestly say I've never met a harder-working MP in my whole life."
Scottish Conservative candidate for the Borders, John Lamont, said: "It was brilliant to have Ruth out on the doorsteps speaking to local people.
"I've set out positive pledges to deliver on the key issues concerning Hawick and Borders residents, such as fixing the roads and improving health services.
"We will only be able to focus on those top local priorities if we keep out the SNP candidate, who we know would focus on independence ahead of all the local issues that people really care about."
