Over 2,500 people have signed up to a campaign by John Lamont MP to save the community hospitals in Duns, Hawick, Kelso and Peebles.
The Scottish Borders MP launched the campaign, which has already attracted 2,524 signatures, after NHS Borders said they may soon suggest closing the 92 community hospital beds in Kelso, Duns, Hawick and Peebles.
NHS Borders medical director, Dr Lynn McCallum, said recently that "if we don't have assurances of a safe medical model being in place I will suggest closing beds."
A review is also being launched of the services provided at the four community hospitals.
The community hospitals have been under threat of closure for some time.
Earlier this year, Kelso GPs pulled out of the arrangement to support the hospitals.
The agreement for Knoll Hospital in Duns has also come to an end.
Scottish Borders MP, John Lamont, said: "The huge outpouring of support for my campaign shows that the people of the Borders are united behind saving these community hospitals.
"I will keep fighting as hard as I can to protect our local health services by urging the SNP Government and NHS Borders to provide more resources to maintain the community hospital beds.
"Despite the huge efforts of NHS staff, these essential facilities are under threat of closure.
"Borders residents have signed up to my campaign to send a message to the SNP Government and NHS Borders that closing our community health facilities would be unacceptable. They must now confirm these hospitals will have the necessary resources to remain open long into the future."
