most of what Chris himself had to say on the subject in the course of his talk dealt with the decision of the Conservative party to allow its members to campaign vigorously for one side of the question or the other, whilst continuing to agree on a whole host of other issues. He expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister for taking such a position, which he felt would enable the party to remain united and to come back together after the Rererendum, however the vote should turn out, and to get on with the business of running the country.
Almost uniquely for a Conservative event, the dinner did not conclude with a raffle. Instead, the guests departed into a chilly Borders evening, leaving Chris and Sue to focus on the highlight of their trip, a visit to Rosslyn Chapel on the morrow.
