Scottish Borders MSP Rachael Hamilton said: "This is terribly sad news for the local community and the many people who still use the pool on a regular basis, especially parents, toddlers and the elderly. I have many fond memories of using the pool with my daughter. The amazing staff have been delivering hundreds of vital swimming lessons and it’s terrible that they will have their jobs axed.
"It appears to be a difficult situation to resolve but I hope a way forward can be found so the pool can reopen in the future and I will work hard with anyone towards that goal."
Scottish Borders MP John Lamont said: "I know the Jedburgh pool well having used it for many months when the Kelso swimming pool was being refurbished. It's very disappointing that this important local resource is shutting, although I understand the situation is complicated. I know it is a well used and valued local resource.
"I'll work constructively to find a solution and I hope the pool can reopen as soon as possible so this facility can continue to serve the local community."
Jedburgh councillor Scott Hamilton said: "I am disappointed that my amendment was not successfully passed by Scottish Borders Council. Whilst the decision of the Trust to close is regrettable, the facilities review that is currently being undertaken gives us hope that this is a reset rather than an end."
